About Me

Hi!

My name's Audrey Geipel (pronounced "Guy-pull"). I'm a Midwesterner at heart, and after 6 years in Los Angeles, I decided to relocate to Minnesota so I could be closer to family.

I'm 2 years out of school with bachelor's degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics with an emphasis in Physics and a Minor in 3D Animation from the University of Southern California. That's a bit of a mouthful for one line on my resume, but it means that I have a background in a wide range of areas - from hard sciences like Math and Physics, to 3D animation.

I previously worked at DreamWorks Animation as a Python Developer/Technical Resource Administrator, helping to manage the 24/7 render farm, troubleshooting render jobs, and coding in Python to help automate processes.

When I'm not working on a computer or watching a movie, I spend a good chunk of my free time in the kitchen trying new recipes or scoping out the best places to eat and get a coffee in my new city. You can read up on my various kitchen exploits at my blog:  www.thebatterthickens.com.

My favorite animated films are WALL-E and Guillermo del Toro's Pinnochio, but Into the Spiderverse or Klaus are close contenders. I hate being asked to pick just one.

For the nitty gritty, check out my resume:

That's a bit of a mouthful for one line on my resume, but it means that I have a background in both STEM and art. I spend my days jumping back and forth between the two, discovering new ways to combine left brain and right brain thinking. My dual background makes me technical in ways many creatives aren't, and creative in ways others in STEM may not be. I can think like a coder in Houdini and model like an artist in Maya.
